For the Apaches Marcus Williams landed first team All ACCAC honors and Jamiko Verner and Xavier Blount each received second team honors.

Mesa’s Stephen Rogers was the player of the year and Sam Ballard, also of Mesa, the coach of the year.

Williams and Verner were selected to the first team All-Region honors; Blount was named to the second team.

The Region 1 playoffs begin this week. Central and Western play on Tuesday in the first round. That winner plays Mesa on Thursday in the second round. Thursday’s winner comes to Cochise on Saturday to play for the Region 1 championship.

Game time will be 7:30 p.m. in Cochise Stronghold. Fans attending the game need to be aware there will be a $5 charge for adults; $3 for students.

For the Lady Apaches, Mielke Elkington landed third team All-ACCAC honors. Central’s Olivia Major was the player of the year and Denise Cardenas of Central was selected the coach of the year.
