College participates in penny drive to honor holocaust children

More than 1.5 million children lost their lives in the Holocaust.


 Students from the Douglas Campus of Cochise College are on a quest to commemorate those lost little lives. They are aiding Henry Kellen, a Holocaust survivor, in his quest to collect 1.5 million pennies to represent each child. It is Mr. Kellen’s dream to see this memorial created. He has selflessly devoted his life to the causes of tolerance, justice, peace, and to ensuring that future Holocausts do not occur.

These pennies will be transformed into a memorial to be placed at the El Paso Holocaust Museum and Study Center. These 1.5 million pennies will need to be accumulated by April 1, 2010. If you would like to help, there are collections on the Douglas Campus of Cochise College and at the Douglas Public Library.
