Dr. Peggy Avina joins Copper Queen Medical Associates

Jim Dickson, Copper Queen’s Community Hospital’s President & CEO recently announced the addition of  Peggy Avina, MD, a well-known family physician in the community, to the medical teams at the Copper Queen Medical Associates Clinics in Bisbee and Douglas.


Dr. Avina, a long-time Southern Arizona resident and graduate of University of Arizona’s College of Medicine, brings with her more than 12 years of experience as a board-certified family practice physician. She is fluent in both English and Spanish and is an expert in the treatment of HIV and AIDS.

“We have some of the best physicians in the area serving our patients and are pleased to have Dr. Avina join our staff,” Dickson said. “She and her family have deep roots in Cochise County and Dr. Avina loves sharing her leadership and expertise with our community and our patients and staff.”

Dr. Avina will work at both the Douglas and Bisbee clinics. She also serves as medical director of Copper Valley Home Health. Dr. Avina and her family live in Bisbee.

She will begin seeing patients Monday, March 29. Dr. Avina’s schedule will be Mondays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Douglas Clinic and Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Bisbee Clinic.
