New high school marquee dedicated

Published/Last Modified on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 10:25 AM MST

The black and gold marquee has been lighting up the entry to Douglas High School since December but the new sign will officially be dedicated at 1 p.m., Thursday, February 25.

Douglas High School Principal Bonnie Lopez congratulates DECA students on their donation that made the new marquee (background) at the high school possible. DECA students in the photo are Hector Rosales, Miriam Herrera, Crystal Maldonado, Jose Luis Teran, George Watkins, Adam Barela, Jose Garcia, Fernando Dominguez, Sheyla Valdez and Aileen Leyva.

The $34,000 sign was made possible by a $17,000 donation from DECA from profits from the store it operates on campus.

The remaining $17,000 came for the school.

The electronic sign displays changing lit messages throughout the day.
