The Bisbee Ironmen fell to the West Valley Headhunters 14-13 in a hard fought AzFL battle Saturday in Buckeye.

The Ironmen would have struck early in the second quarter on a bad field goal attempt by the Headhunters, but an 82 yard return was called back, returning the Ironmen to the 10-yard line.

Bisbee then marched the ball down the field to finish the drive with an eight-yard TD pass to Sterling Schuller. The extra point was good giving the Ironmen a 7-0 lead going into halftime.

On the second play of the second half Bisbee turned over the ball on an errant pitch giving the Headhunters the ball on the Ironmen 4 yard line which the Headhunters turned into a quick score on an eight yard pass making the game 7-7 after a successful extra point.

The Headhunters scored again early in the fourth quarter to go up 14-7.

The Ironmen came back and scored with five minutes left, but a failed two point conversion left the Ironmen trailing 14-13.

Bisbee had a chance to go ahead at the end of the quarter but an interception in the end zone ended all chances as the Headhunters took a knee to allow time to expire.

The Ironmen, 4-3, still atop the desert division travel to Tucson High this Saturday to take on the Cave Creek Dragons in a 3 p.m. game.
