Alma Vildosola, who is up for election as Justice of the Peace, got some early job security as the Douglas City Council approved a two-year extension for her to serve as City Magistrate.

The two-year extension was approved unanimously 5-0. Council members Ivan Huish and Rudy Quinonez were both absent.
Later in the meeting, Alice Novoa-Benson continued her claim that Vildosola should not be allowed to run as Justice of the Peace because she is not a citizen of the United States.
A court ruled against Benson and her claim earlier this month.
In other action, the city:
• Amended a service agreement with SmartSchoolsPlus, Inc., to provide professional services, including employee staffing services for the city’s Human Resources Department.
• Approved a contract renewal with Health Net for employee health insurance. The council also approved an increase to the flexible spending account limit for medical reimbursement from $3,000 to $4,000 per year through Employers Services Group.
• Approved contract renewal for liability insurance with Travellers.
• Approved a bid with Ambiserv for emergency medical service billing to the city.
• Approved plans and specifications for repairs to water storage tanks at Causey Park as required by the Arizona Department of Housing.
