Passport fees on the rise

The cost of getting a passport is going up beginning on July 13, according to the U.S. State Department.

A U.S. Passport Book for first time applicants and minors will increase to $135 for adults and $105 for minors. This includes the passport and acceptance fees.

The cost of a U.S. Passport Card fees for first time applicants and minors will be $55 for adults and $40 for minors, which also includes the passport and acceptance fees.

The passport fees for adults eligible to apply by mail using form DS-82, "Application for a U.S. Passport by mail,:" are $110 for the passport book and $30 for the passport card.
