The City of Douglas continues work on various projects. This work is being completed by the Department of Public Works and is part of the Mayor and Council’s ongoing infrastructure improvement program.

Pan American Avenue southbound traffic will be restricted to alleviate traffic congestion and eliminate gridlocked intersections. Eastbound, southbound and westbound traffic at the 3rd Street and 5th Street intersections will be restricted. These traffic measures are in effect until further notice. Curbing Installation
There will be curb, gutter and sidewalk installation on 15th Street from San Antonio Avenue to Florida Avenue. Construction work hours will be from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. No parking will be allowed within the construction limits and vehicular traffic will be restricted along project limits. Vehicles parked within the project limits WILL BE TOWED AWAY.
Water Main Replacement
Water main installation, road construction and concrete work will be taking place from A Avenue to Washington Avenue.
Sewer Construction
The Bonita Avenue Sewer Interceptor project which includes installing 15-inch sewer line along Bonita Avenue from 3rd Street to 19th Street is ongoing. As a result, this week Bonita Avenue will be closed from 3rd Street to 19th Street. New sewer-line installation will continue at the south-side of Wal-Mart.
Fire hydrant and water system maintenance also continues along with miscellaneous concrete repairs, pothole patching, and graffiti cleanup throughout the city. Should problems arise with water and/or sewer services on the weekend or a holiday, please contact the Douglas Police Department at 417-7550, and staff on call will be dispatched to your residence.
