Busy Friday as three homes catch fire in less than 45 minutes

A unocupied mobile home was completely destroyed by fire while its neighbor received minor damage and shortly threafter a second fire was reported at Merritt Avenue in Pirtleville.,

Black smoke and orange-red flames could be seen as the Douglas Fire Department arrived at a mobile home at 2100 I Avenue. The call came in at 3:41 p.m. Friday, and when the fire fighters arrived, the home awas already fully involved.

The street had to be blocked off while fire fighters knocked down the blaze.

A neighboring home caught fire, but fire fighters were able to knock the fire down before any real damage occurred.

No one was home at either residence and no injuries were reported.

A second fire occurred shortly thereafte in Pirtleveille.

Douglas, Sunnyside and Pirtleville fire deparments were involved in stopping the fire at both locations.
