Dickerson new postmaster

New Douglas Postmaster Cherie Dickerson recently spoke at the regular meeting of the Douglas AARP, answering questions about mailing costs and any upcoming changes.

Dickerson became the new postmaster over the summer, starting on June 5. She has more than 13 years of experience with the postal service, starting as a distribution clerk in Phoenix. She then moved on to Part-Time Supervisor in 1999, Associate Supervisor in 2002 and was in Peoria until 2006.She most recently served as the postmaster in Willcox before coming to Douglas.

“It’s a different experience,” she said. “More routes more services and a larger delivery area.

She is still commuting to Douglas but hopes to be here permanently by the first of the year.

“Everyone has been tremendous, very nice. It has been a great experience.”
