Francisco Barrios, 29, has rejoined the staff at the Douglas Dispatch

Francisco Barrios

Barrios worked at the Dispatch from 2005 to 2009 acting as an editor's assistant, doing page design, translations and some writing.

"It’s really great to be back and be part of this company, which has served the Douglas community over 100 years. I really enjoyed working for the Dispatch," Barrios said.

Born in Douglas in 1981, but raised in Agua Prieta by Mexican parents, most of his life has been spent in Mexico. Barrios has earned a Bachelors degree in Education and is working on a degree in music.

"This is a huge challenge for me, but a challenge which I am ready.

"The people from Douglas are warm, sensitive, honest. It is my goal to create strong bonds with the people, the businesses, the churches, the schools, and the best of all, readers," he said.

Barrios has been married for two years to wife, Nancy, who’s a psychologist and social worker in a middle school in Agua Prieta.

One of Barrios passions, besides writing, is music. He plays the guitar, the bass guitar, saxophone, keyboard and drums. He also has a music academy called “Acoustik”.

"Finally, I want to let Douglas residents know that if you have something to share with our community, you can call me at the Douglas Dispatch, at (520) 364-3424. My work e-mail is douglasdispatch@hotmail.com. Please share with me what you have to say," Barrios said.
