This is a change from the normal location at the Douglas Fire Department .

Members of the Douglas Fire Department will then be on hand at the Douglas Mercado that Saturday to sign up senior citizens who are interested in obtaining smoke detectors for their homes. DFD staff members will then be on hand to install these detectors “while supplies last” at a later date for all senior citizens who do sign up for this free service.

Other members of the department will also be on hand to sign up qualified individuals in need of car seats. These car seats will also be installed by certified car seat technicians at DFD through appointments only.

The local Medical Helicopter crews “Life Line 2” will also be on hand with the Helicopter and staff to promote their new membership drive.

"We invite the entire Douglas community to come in and take advantage of these safety programs that we are currently offering," said Douglas Fire Chief Mario Novoa.
