" I am fed up with these so called charter schools. Everyone knows the principal and I use the word principal loosely because these are not certified people;. The principal from CAS lives in Agua Prieta. I see her crossing everyday. Omega has a bus that picks up kids at the border, this new charter is misusing tax dollars offering prizes to people who register their kids. Douglas Unified has been here for all of us, and while they are facing serious budget cuts we need to remember these charters take away from the teachers that make far less than these charter teachers but are educated and qualified. La Paloma is a business and "cherry picks" their students. These charters need to be investigated. "

" So tired of hearing that proof of residents in the USA is mandated. That's what Omega and CAS also say. Just go to either of those so called schools and look at the license plates on the cars picking up those kids. There for profit busines. They really don't care where the kids come from as long as our tax dollars keep coming in. Those tax dollars need to stay in our public schools. "

" Just to Let all the residents of Dougles, they will have to show proof of residents in the USA. They will not be able to go to the school unless they have all the paperwork in order. "

" if you need more info. you should check the website lpadouglas dot org and YES they are asking for proof of residence. and they are here to serve the students from Douglas. Inform yourself before writing any comments!! if you don't know what is this school about, you should ask first.... "

" What happened with the proff of residence! That is why our schools are ranked so low, because these children from Mexico get tested and fail, and our US citizen children get the bad end of the deal!!! This is the United States. Go back to where you belong (In Mexico.) And yes I am Mexican, but a US citizen. "

me wrote on Mar 10, 2011 6:14 PM:

" Yes another charter school, but not for Mexican citizen kids from A.P. It will serve U.S. citizen kids from A.P. Notice that the requirements don't mention anything about proof of residence in Douglas.

When will the state finally enforce the residence requirement? Look at the line from A.P. in the morning before 7 am and watch all those kids coming across. We need to get the port of entry to stop facilitating the traffic in the morning. Once it isn't easy for parents to bring the kids in the morning it might help out the problem. "

Mexicans wrote on Mar 5, 2011 4:09 PM:

" oh brother another charter school for all the Mexican kids from Agua Prieta. Three schools using taxpayers money to educate non-citizens. Just see all the kids in their charter school uniforma being dropped off by Mexican cars (licenses) This is a crime! "
