Cochise County Sheriff Larry Dever attended the 5th Annual

on Februrary 15. This was a training convention for approximately
250 law enforcement and business professionals
from throughout the United States.
The training topics included Kidnappings for Ransom;
Cross-Jurisdiction Information sharing and collaboration;
Cell Phone Tracking; Cooperative Efforts between Mexico
and the U.S. in Law Enforcement & Prosecution Efforts;
Federal Agency Initiatives on Border Security Issues; and
Gangs of the Southwest.
During the first day of the conference Master of Ceremonies
Jeffrey Robertson, Public Outreach Director for the
Homeland Security Institute DHS, asked Sheriff Dever to
make a short speech before being presented with a lifetime
achievement award honoring his dedication to border security
and keeping citizens safe.
Sheriff Dever said, “Well, receiving a ‘Lifetime Achievement’
award is a little troubling, inasmuch as I plan on being
around awhile longer. On the other hand, there are days when
this fight for homeland security along our border seems to
have spanned many lifetime ..”
