The goal set for this event? To buy a brand new Handicap-Accessible Van or commonly called Wheelchair Van to help the DARC to work even more on daily basis with the use of this car.

Gary Clark, Executive Director for DARC, said that the goal for the Carne Asada is to raise $10,000 in order to meet an agreement between DARC and ADOT (Arizona Department of Transportation) to receive a federal grant. “For every dollar we put up they will put up five dollars. So we will put $10,000 and they will put $50,000 to buy the van.”

Around 40 people gathered to help to at the Carne Asada to make it a big success. “If you look around these are all my friends. It has nothing to do with money, its only friendship and I’m very thankful to them.”

At the end, over 1,500 plates were sold and the goal was accomplish - Over $10,000 were raised at the end of the Carne Asada.

Gary Clark and the Douglas Association for Retarded Citizens wishes to thank all the sponsors and friends who helped with the Carne Asada.
