On Monday, April 4, Douglas Police Detectives with the Gang Task Force had received an anonymous tip that Chavez may have been dropped off in the Douglas area. Detectives followed up on the information which led to a residence at the 800 block of 11th Street. Officers were able to locate the residence and conduct surveillance Tuesday morning until it was confirmed that Chavez was at that location.

Officers of the Special Response Team entered the residence, where they found Chavez on the front living room coach asleep and he was taken into custody without further incident. He was transported to the Douglas Police Department and Tucson Police Detectives have been informed of his arrest.

Chavez will be transported to the Cochise County Jail where he will be detained for a 2nd Degree Murder Charge for Tucson Police Department.
