Consulate to promote “The Colors of Mexico” with photo exhibit

Early last year, the Sonoran Society for Creative Photography launched a festive project that would see the light in "Fotoseptiembre", a renowned photography festival based in the city of Hermosillo. Inspired by the Mexican flag colors, 14 photographers presented more than 40 pieces that adorned the railings of the Sonoran Government building.
By initiative of the Consul of Mexico in Douglas, Oscar Antonio de la Torre Amezcua, with the support from the Institute for Mexicans Abroad, the colorful collection came to our city, to be installed during a whole month in the Art Gallery Douglas, in a joint effort of promoting cultural activities for the enjoyment of local people and visitors from both sides of the border.
Intense red lips, deep green plants and white linens come to life in a series of images that, beyond their vibrant colors, combine to present a very Mexican portrait, specifically brought to our city, as a sign of the commitment that the Consulate of Mexico in Douglas has taken to promote the culture beyond the borders.
The exhibition will be open from April 4 to 30 at the Douglas Art Gallery. Admission is free.
Those interested in knowing the artists personally, can do so at the official reception to be held on Saturday, April 9, between 2 and 4 pm, in the Douglas Art Gallery (625 10th street, next to the Post Office).
