Yellow police tape encircled a home on the 700 block of 8th Street that appears to be the site of a murder/suicide.

On Monday, April 18, about 9:30 a.m., Douglas Police Officers responded to a residence in reference to shots fired.

On arrival, a Douglas Police Officer found two people, male and female, who had been shot while at the residence. Douglas Fire Department personnel provided medical attention to both persons, who were then transported to Southeastern Arizona Medical Center for medical attention.

Both persons succumbed as a result of their injuries at the hospital 45 minutes later.

The victims were later identified as Francisco Javier Cocoba, 42, and Yvonne Janette Cocoba (Diaz), 38. The two had recently been divorced.

This is still an on going investigation and more information will follow.

“Based on the initial information at the scene, Douglas Police is investigating this incident as a possible Murder / Suicide,” said a Douglas Police spokesman
