Mark your calendars for May 7, 2011 - Elfrida is having a party! The Elfrida Art Center, Inc. and many of the local merchants have gotten together to put on the Elfrida May Festival and you won't want to miss out on the fun. The festival begins at 9:00 a.m. and lasts all day.

Desert Videoland Oasis will be sponsoring a car wash with the students from Valley Union High School Music Class on hand to clean your car while you spend your time enjoying the festivities.
The Longhorn Steakhouse will have breakfast, lunch and dinner specials beginning at 6:30 a.m. - a rodeo at 7 p.m. and a dance at 9 p.m. There will also be a blacksmith out front with 3 shows for your entertainment, shows are scheduled for 10, noon, and 3. The Cowboy Fast Draw Association is going to have fast draw competitions with prizes for the fastest shooters near the Arena on the north side of the Longhorn.
Moving north, on the same side of the street, you will find The Power From The Past. They will be set up in front of the old Desert Pony all day. Stop by and see some interesting machinery that is in working order. Next to them will be Burke's towing with a couple of antique vehicles.
From there it is a short distance to the Elfrida Citizen's Alliance. They will have an information booth with many different hand-outs as well as a few vendors along the sidewalk.
A couple doors further and you will be at the Round-up Cafe. They will be having breakfast and lunch specials, music and vendors. They will be open from 6:30 - 4:00. You won't want to miss out on their wonderful baked goods!
Across the street to the Korner Store for a bake sale brought to you by the Little League. Then head south to A Family Restaurant for breakfast and lunch specials. They open at 6 a.m., breakfast is served until 11. Your next stop is the Elfrida Art Center, Inc. Step inside for the 6th Annual Judged Fine Arts Show and Sale. Adele Crouch will be out front on the patio with her children's books, Elfrida Art Center calendars, and T-shirts as well as slips for you to vote for the people's choice award. There will also be an Alpaca Petting Zoo on the north side of the building for the kids to enjoy a hands-on experience with these beautiful animals along with additional vendors.
Back to your nice clean car and drive about 1 mile north to the Community Center for the Roses for Mothers award ceremony. Every year the Community Center, in conjunction with the Elfrida Schools, awards roses for the Mother of the Year. The award ceremony will begin at 11.
Anyone who would like to be a vendor, please contact Adele Crouch at 520-642-1569. Vendor spaces are $10 for a 10' x10' space or $5 with a new paid membership to the Elfrida Art Center, Inc. Anyone interested in entering your artwork in the show, please go to our website to download and print the rules and application: http://www.elfridaartcenter.org. There will be ribbons for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. As well as Best of Show, Grand Prize, People's Choice and Sponsors ribbons and prizes. First place, Best of Show and Grand Prize will have monetary prizes along with the ribbons.
