Cochise College Bi-National Chorus to perform

The Cochise College Bi-National Chorus will be performing on April 15 at several schools in Douglas and Agua Prieta.

The group is headed by Dr. Lori Keyne, Music Director for the Cochise College, Douglas Campus and some participants are from left, Mike Holland; Shurona “Ronni” Lindo; Patricia Diaz; Maryann Hockstad; Dr. Eric Lodge; Margot Ramos; Lori Fleetwood-Watt; Dr. Heidi Lodge; Virginia Mendez and Veronica Forrest.

Dr. Lori Keyne, Director of the Music Department in the Douglas Campus expressed her desire to reach to the population and share the work of the Chorus. “The purpose is to let our communities know what the Chorus is; what we like to do and to invite more people to join us, because even the Bi-National Chorus is composed by Cochise College students anyone who’s not a College student can participate. All they have to do is to come to the rehearsals.”

The Bi-National Chorus will be performing at the Douglas High School and some elementary schools. Confirmation is still pending.

The Bi-National Chorus rehearses on Monday, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Agua Prieta; Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Bisbee and one Sunday of the month in Douglas.

SpringSong Choral Concert

During April and May the Bi-National Chorus from Douglas Campus along with the Bisbee Women’s Ensemble and the Sierra Vista Chamber Choir will open three dates to perform to the public, with the Theme “SpringSong”. “These concerts are free to the public. Although a donation box for student scholarships will be at the gates of each hall we perform at.”

Dates are:

√ April 12, 11:00-3:00 , Cochise College, Sierra Vista Campus, Arts Festival.

√ April 15, School time Douglas/AP schools.

√ April 27, 6-8 p.m., Cochise College Douglas Campus Little Theatre.

√ May 6, 7 p.m. , St. John’s Parish Hall, Old Bisbee.

√ May 8 , 4 p.m., Kino Hall, Sierra Vista.

The repertoire includes compositions from George Colbourne, 20th Century, from Panama; Loreena McKennitt, 20th Century, Canada; Richard Egües and Conrado Monier, 20th Century, Cuba; Eric Whitacre, 20th Century, from United States; Moses Hogan, 1957-2003, United States and other seven composed from Latin America.
