Women golfers hold Roadrunner Invitational Tournament

Fifty-five women golfers descended on the City of Douglas golf course March 16 to participate in the annual Douglas Women’s Best Ball Golf Invitational.

Mary Ann Clark and Kay Bovee from the Turquoise Valley Golf Course in Naco were the overall winners shooting a low net score of 52.

Following are the four Flights, best ball scores and winners with their respective clubs:

A Flight

1. 58, Ardie Crawford and Valerie Rock, Shadow Mountain, Sunsites

2. 58, Azalia Oviedo and Christa Reisinger, Douglas

3. 60, Gundy go and Kay Walton, Pueblo del Sol, Sierra Vista

B Flight

1. 56, Sherron Carroll and Beverly Reynolds, Turquoise Valley

2. 58, Barbara Gray and Kay Anderson, PDS

3. 59, Lois Alexander and Donna Stoner, PDS

C Flight

1. 57, Laura Smith and Janet Kunz, T.V.

2. 58, Suzanne Fightmaster and Joyce Kovacs, PDS

3. 59, Margaret Bemis and Joyce Downs, Douglas and Duncan

D Flight

1. 55, Edie Durieux and Roxie Jensen, T.V.

2. 55, Madelaine Lusk and June Nichols, PDS

3. 55, Barbara Olson and Maude Sheets, Douglas

The longest drive was won by Azalia Oveido from Douglas. The closest to the pin for handicap of 8-20 won by Kay Anderson, handicap 21-24 won by Donna Stoner and handicap 25-30 won by Edie Durieux.

Tournament officials want to thank to all the ladies who played in the tournament, the City of Douglas for their support in making this a successful tournament and all the participating merchants.
