101 years and counting

Douglas Dispatch

On September 2, 2011, Alberto Escalante of Douglas turned 101 years.

Escalante celebrated his 101th birthday in Douglas with his wife Beatriz. The couple has been married since June of 1943, almost 70 years. Together, they have four children, Jesus and Armando Escalante; Irene Morales and Irma Corona. Armando Escalante lives with his parents and is the primary caretaker. The family has lived in the same house since 1954

Escalante shared many interesting factors on why he believes he has reached a century old and healthy at that. “I never smoked and drank only occasionally; I always eat healthy and walk a little every day. I do have some hearing loss, but that is no big deal,” he stated.

Her niece Oralia Campas, his sister and nephews send a big hug to Escalante and they wish to have him with them for many more years.
