A third recall effort against Ward 2 Councilmember Mitch Lindemann became official on Nov. 4 after committee Truth for Douglas filed the proper documents and presented them to Douglas’ City Clerk Brenda Aguilar.

Ward 2 Councilmember Mitch Lindemann

The document states that “we the Citizens of Ward 2 want Councilman Mitch Lindemann removed from office. He has violated the civil rights of his constituents by not allowing citizens to speak at the public sessions of City Hall Meetings.

“He was instrumental in efforts to deny and reduce involvement of voters in City Government. The overwhelming majority of his constituents strongly disagree with Lindemann’s voting record against supporting resolutions that would secure our borders against criminal and terrorist’s activities. His constituents do not want his role as City Councilman to be that of supporting the mission of the Border Network Operation for open borders. He has shown a lack of leadership by not educating himself on issues that are of extreme importance such as the recent redistricting of our city’s congressional, legislative and county districts. With the important challenges facing Ward 2 we need someone who will represent Ward 2.”

Olga Robles and Derek Garland, the committee’s Chairman and Treasurer respectively said that in order to support the recall 35 signatures were needed. The committee obtained 71 signatures from Ward 2 constituents.

Councilmember Lindemann said he is aware that a third petition of a recall against him has been filed but he feels confident that the people that are behind it will not have success again.

“Go ahead!” Lindemann said. “I will win; I have a lot of support from my district, so I am not worried.”

Lindemann also said that in the previous recall attempt he discovered a flaw, which led him to take this issue to court and spend$6,000 out of his own pocket in order to save money to the City. “This new recall is being brought by the same people with the same lies,” he said.

More details regarding this issue will be presented at www.douglasdispatch.com in future days.

" This is one reason why I refuse to relocate my business to Douglas. This is just a perfect case of small town politics and citizens with nothing better to do. This is why Douglas will always be a second rate town. "

" I find all these recalls absurd it makes our city look horrible instead of taking care of our town business our council seems to be in a popularity contest. Does anybody else see this? Our city government is so unprofessional its embarrassing for our town and citizens im glad were providing entertainment for other cities. "

" It is possible that a trouble maker from Bisbee is behind this. He has used up any credibility he may have had in Bisbee by sucking in innocent people to campaign for his hidden agendas. He has influenced people in Douglas before and has had a hand in many recalls and political wars in Sierra Vista. He is providing legal advice without a license to poor unsuspecting people and they are suffering the consequences of his direction. Just look at that poor man in Sierra Vista who owns a newspaper where he ended up on taking this crackpot's advice. This person also has no problem suing a City on the taxpayer's dime. Someone needs to stop him. Douglas people don't listen to this person. "

" Enoughisenough: its not just one side that is a problem open your eyes and see it is ALL of them. I have seen both the City Council members and the Mayor in action at city council meetings and other functions. They ALL are acting like children. They ALL have not done anything for Douglas except fight amongst each other. None of them are fit to have a seat in our city government. Name one thing they have done for Douglas that has brought a positive impact. "

" To me this sounds very suspicious. I have somewhat followed this story and this is just becoming more and more ridiculous. This show poor leadership, because anyone who is a good leader, leads and doesn't entertain nonsense like this. This discredits the community and gives them a bad reputation. People running the show need to put their heads together and start working together for once. There are more important issues going on in the community that need more attention than this. Stop pointing fingers at one another and do some self reflecting on yourselves as individuals to realize what the real problems are in order to make this place sucessful. "

" This is ridiculous! Committee for Truth?? Give me a break! This is Mayor Gomez and his fan club who continue to bring trouble within the City. The whole point of this recall is to stop good people like Mr Lindemann from standing up against the Mayor and his personal agenda. This recall is not going to do anything to secure the border, bring jobs to Douglas, or make City government more effective. These people should be ashamed of themselves!! Hang in there, Mr. Lindemann, the people of Douglas are on your side. "
