Douglas residents brought in 2012 in a rather quiet fashion.

While there were numerous parties taking place throughout the city officials for both the Douglas Fire Department and the Douglas Police Department reported no alcohol related accidents took place or calls for stray bullets coming from revelers bringing in the New Year.

Officials at the Douglas Fire Dept. said there were some regular calls for service but nothing out of the ordinary and all in all, it was a quiet night.

Sgt. Jose Duarte of the Douglas Police Dept. said his department received “multiple calls for shots fired or fire works but when it came to department reports there was only one DUI for the whole night.”

Sgt. Duarte said there was a call about a car that had its window damaged by a possible stray bullet and a couple of minor traffic accidents also took place along with a couple of vehicle break-ins.

Duarte said the DPD was also put on alert following a shooting that happened in Bisbee that sent two people to the hospital.

There was some thought the suspect might be headed this way, he said.

The alleged shooter was later arrested in the Bisbee area.
