DHS matmen end regular season

The Douglas High School wrestling team ended its regular season last week winning two of three matches.


The Bulldogs beat Coolidge 27-24 and lost to San Manuel 36-14 in a multiple Saturday, Jan. 28 in San Manuel.

On Tuesday, Jan. 31 the Bulldogs beat Tombstone 57-9 in a dual meet in Tombstone.

Cristian Ross, wrestling at 106-pounds, was pinned against Coolidge in 3:21 and lost by a 10-3 decision to San Manuel.

Douglas forfeited the weight class to Tombstone.

At 113 pounds Rogelio Martinez dropped a 9-3 decision to Coolidge, beat his San Manuel opponent 20-5 and fell to Tombstone 13-3.

At 120 Isreal Andrade won by forfeit vs. Coolidge and was pinned in 3:24 against San Manuel.

Javier Fraijo stepped in this weight class against Tombstone and won by forfeit.

Joseph Fraijo, wrestling at 126-pounds, was pinned in 3:34 against Coolidge, pinned in 2:24 against San Manuel and won by forfeit against Tombstone.

Jose Moreno wrestled at 132 against San Manuel and fell 9-2.

He moved up to 138 against Coolidge and fell 4-2. He won by forfeit against Tombstone.

At 145 Jose Salinas pinned his Coolidge opponent in 3:47 and he dropped a 9-2 decision to San Manuel. He did not wrestle against Tombstone.

Felipe Linares beat his Coolidge opponent 8-3 at 152 pounds and he won a 17-2 decision over his San Manuel opponent.

Gustavo Melendez won by forfeit over Tombstone at 152.

Brandon Moreno, at 160, won by forfeit over Tombstone.

Douglas forfeited its 170 class to both Coolidge and San Manuel. Joseph Alvarez then won by forfeit over Tombstone.

At 182 Luis Maytorena pinned his Coolidge opponent in 3:32, dropped a 7-5 decision to San Manuel and won by forfeit over Tombstone.

At 195 Douglas forfeited to Coolidge and San Manuel. Colton Sanders then lost by fall in 90 seconds to Tombstone.

At heavyweight Robert Young pinned his Coolidge opponent in 58 seconds. He then won by forfeit over San Manuel and Tombstone.
