The City of Douglas received CDBG funding for the installation of curbing on 20th, 21st, and 23rd Streets, from A Avenue to Washington Avenue.

During the course of the project, it was discovered that 20th Street water infrastructure was in very poor shape and on the verge of collapsing. As a result, the City had to replace the waterlines, which are located in the middle of the street and resulted in damage to the street surface.

The next rotation of CDBG funding was scheduled to be used for the installation of curbing to the avenues in that area and several locations throughout Ward One; however, due to the damages to 20th Street, we have submitted a request to the State of Arizona to amend our contract to use the funding for repairs to 20th Street, before proceeding with curbing at this time.

The State of Arizona has approved our request for a contract amendment and we are now able to proceed with repairs to 20th Street.

Asphalt repair is best done in warmer weather; therefore, the repairs will begin as soon as the weather warms up.

City officials say they appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.
