Sydney Dane Lewis

Feb. 15, 1977-Jan. 12, 2012

Sydney Dane Lewis, (34), passed away peacefully but unexpectedly on January 12, 2012.

She was born to Janice Lynn de Boer and Wendell Leland Lewis in Everett, Washington on February 15, 1977. At age 4 she moved with her parents to Douglas where she attended elementary school. She and her brother Brandon lived for a time with their Grandparents Hans & Olive de Boer before moving to Tempe, Arizona to live with their Mother Janice and her husband Ed Hoffman. She attended school in Mesa, Arizona and graduated from Westwood High School in 1994. She worked at Discover Card Services in Phoenix. She trained in nursing at Pima College and became a C.N.A. Sydney worked at several nursing homes and hospice facilities in the Phoenix metropolitan area, the Douglas area, and in Lake Havasu City.

She was engaged for a time to Justin Griswold who fathered her two younger children; Caleb (6) and Carson (3). Along with her oldest daughter Chloe, they were the lights of her life.

Sydney struggled with mental health issues and addiction throughout her life and was working toward recovery at the end. The family is eternally grateful for all the relatives, friends, and medical professionals who supported Sydney during the difficult times giving her hope and happiness. We are comforted knowing that she can now rest in the Peace of the Lord. She will be forever loved and remembered in our hearts.

Sydney leaves behind several aunts, uncles, and cousins and many friends. We pray that they fill their hearts with the memories of her beauty, her voice, her smile, and their times together.

She is survived by her mother; Janice (Ed) Hoffman, father; Wendell Lewis (Sally Hamilton), brothers; Brandon & Casey, and the loves of her life, her children; Chloe (17), Caleb (6), and Carson (3).
