Bulldog, Lady Bulldog hoopsters qualify for state

The Arizona Interscholastic Association unveiled the 2012 AIA Division II Boys and Girls State Basketball playoff brackets Sunday and both the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs have qualified for the upcoming state tournament.

The Lady Bulldogs landed the 11th seed and will host 22nd seed Prescott Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Douglas High School. Because this is a state playoff game state playoff admission fees will be in effect.

Should Douglas win Wednesday they will play sixth seed Flowing Wells Friday in Tucson.

Twenty-four teams are in the tournament this year.

The state championship game will take place at 10 A.M. Saturday, Feb. 25 in Prescott.

The Bulldogs landed the 20th seed in the 24 team field and as a result will held to Phoenix this Thursday for a 7 p.m. game at 13th seed Sunnyslope. The winner of that game will face fourth seed Peoria Saturday at 7 in Peoria.

The state championship game for the boys will take place at 12 noon Saturday, Feb. 25 in Prescott.
