Registration for the 2012 Douglas Charger football and cheer season has begun.

League President Ken Nelson has announced signups will be done from Feb. 1 through May 31.

Registrations will be done during the week by calling Sandee Nelson at 895-2663 or at Denny’s Restaurant from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the following dates: Feb. 25, March 24, April 21 and 28; May 12 and 19.

The 2012 fees are as follows: Cheer, ages 5-14, $75; Flag football, ages 5-7, $90; tackle, ages 7-14, $110.

The date for determining the players age is July 31, 2012.

Nelson said the flag and tackle fees include a customized game jersey that the players will be able to keep.

After May 31, if there are still spots available for football or cheer, the fees will increase an additional $20 and the entire registration will need to be paid in full when registering.

“Currently a spot can be held on the roster for a $20 minimum payment,” Nelson said. “Team sizes for flag will be 18 and for the tackle squads it will be 35.”

Nelson added this year’s teams will be based on a first come first serve basis so it is extremely important to register early.

All paperwork including 2012 physicals must be on file with league by August 1, 2012 in order for player to participate. A player may lose their spot on roster and may also not be allowed to participate and will receive a refund for registration amount less the cost of the jersey if all paperwork is not completed by deadline.

August 1, 2012 also will be the first day of practice.

The Douglas Charger Football & Cheer 2012 Executive Board is as follows: Ken Nelson, Carlos LaMadrid, Sandee Nelson and Susan Hurtado. The 2012 Board Members are Victor Varela, Enrique Hurtado and Jose Hernandez.
