Eight local schools recently had a visit from several members of the Douglas Noon Lions Club.

The purpose of the visit was to re-emphasize the importance of the United States flag.

The club distributed U.S. flags to first graders of each school and explained to them what it represents and the importance of being proud to be an American.

Juan Perez, Project Chairman from the Noon Lions Club said that all members spent a very good time visiting the schools and distributing the flags to the kids.

“All the kids were excited to receive a flag and they showed real interest in learning that the flag is not a toy but something they must be proud of,” Perez said. “The club has been doing this for over 15 years now and we feel very good about doing this.”
