Students had the chance to hear and speak with several members of the professional and business community of Douglas with regard to various occupations, including an explanation of the entry-level requirements of local and regional jobs in the area.
Presenters included Douglas Fire and Police Departments, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, Veterinarians, Teachers, Military personnel, Cochise County Sheriff’s Department, Photographer/Journalism personal, Professional Sports team, Registered Nurses, Professional Chefs, and Lawyers.
All presenters had the opportunity to speak and hear to the students and to share valuable information that will help them to start planning and preparing for the life they want after high school. With this information, both the student and family can work together to plan and prepare for the variety of opportunities that lie ahead.
Postsecondary education including community college, university and career and technical education is an option for every student. Presenters agreed that in order to be successful in their plans, students need to take proactive steps to get there and not just wait for the opportunities to come.
