HERACLIO M. BERNAL

Heraclio M. Bernal passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2012 surrounded by his loved ones.

Heraclio was born September 11, 1924 in Douglas, Arizona to Alejandro and Antonia Molina Bernal.

Heraclio began working at the Phelps Dodge copper smelter in September 1941 and in 1944 was drafted and entered into the United States Navy. He served his country until his honorable discharge in 1946. He then returned to Phelps Dodge and became a general foreman for the converters and anodes department. He worked at Phelps Dodge for 46 years until his retirement in 1987.

Heraclio was preceded in death by his parents, his six siblings and his beloved wife Adelina “Connie” Bernal in 2003. Heraclio is survived by his children Heraclio “Rocky” Bernal, Alfonso (Cindy) Bernal, Dolores Gonzales, Ricky (Nellie) Pintor, George (Trisha) Bernal and Lily (Beto) Marrufo, brother Luis Bernal, 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter “Emilia” along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A Rosary for Heraclio will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 9, 2012 also at the Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard, the American Legion and VFW.

Pallbearers who will serve are Rocky Bernal, Alfonso Bernal, Ricky Pintor, George Bernal, Chris Gonzales, Beto Marrufo, and Alfonso “Ponchito” Bernal. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of his grandchildren, his brother Luis Bernal and the Bernal, Luna and Pintor Families.
