Lady Bulldog tracksters run by Catalina

The Douglas Lady Bulldogs track team downed Catalina 81-36 in a dual meet last week at Douglas High School.

Douglas began the meet with its 4x800 relay team of Laura Blair, Angelica Trejo, Marilyn Grijalva and Karla Loreto finishing first with a time of 12:14.

Trejo finished in second in the 1600 turning in a time of 6:36.

Melissa Rodriguez finished first in the 100-meter hurdles posting a time of 18.98 seconds; Barbara Jordan finished first in the 100-meters turning in a time of 13.16. Yadirah Cuevas came in third in the race finishing with a time of 13.98.

Jordan and Cuevas were second and third in the 200 turning in times of 27.80 and 30.02.

Grecia Castillo won the high jump with a jump of 4’10”; she was first in the triple jump with a personal best jump of 34’3” and she was first in the long jump with a 15’10” while Cuevas followed in third with a 13’6”.

In the 400-meters Grijalva came in first with a time of 1:10; Marlene Gonzalez was second with a time of 1:18.

In the 800-meters Blair was second and Loreto third posting times of 2:52 and 3:02 respectively.

Emily Castillo won the discus with a throw of 80’. Danita Ozuna was second with a throw of 72’3”.

Ozuna and Kristen Melendez placed second and third in the shot put with throws of 27’4 and 23’10.

Kayla Fields won the 300-intermediate hurdles finishing with a time of 53.64; Rodriguez was second with a time of 56.50.

Douglas’ 4x100 relay team of Castillo. Rodriguez, Jordan and Fields came in first with a time of 53.64.

The 4x400 relay team of Jordan, Kianna Ross, Fields and Grijalva was also first turning in a time of 4:41.

Douglas’ track coach Donna Savill said it was also nice to run in good weather and it was a good showing by her team as they prepare for the rest of the season.
