Canez wins City tournament

Luis Canez won the City of Douglas Match Play Golf Tournament which was held March 4, 10-11 at the Douglas Golf Course.

Thirty-one golfers competed in four different flights in the three-day tournament.

In the championship flight Canez was first followed by Jay Zamora and Ruben Robles in second and third.

Augie Ballesteros won the first flight with Rudy Romero coming in second and Ronnie Salmon third.

Jay Mingus was the second flight winner with Andres Rico taking second and Ed McKay third.

Karl Frisky won the third flight with George Lopez coming in second and Tony Lopez third.

Nike was down for the tournament showing off their 2012 golf products.

First place winners received a free quarter pass to the golf course for April through June. Second place winners received a method putter and third place winners received a pair of Nike shoes.

Another tournament will be held March 31 at the Douglas Golf Course. Contact the pro shop for details.
