A special recall election for Ward 2 will be taking place on May 12.

Current Councilman for Ward 2 Mitch Lindemann will be facing challenger Richard Lopez at the special election as a result of a recall petition that became official on November 4 after committee Truth for Douglas filled the documents and presented to City Clerk Brenda Aguilar.

Now, the City of Douglas has informed that early voting will be available from April 19 to May 11 in two ways:

The first way is early voting in person; any registered voter may cast an early ballot in person at City Hall at 425 Tenth Street at the City Clerk’s Office.

The clerk’s office has also informed that if people with some disability or have difficulty walking, they can call ahead to notify the voting clerk that you want to vote from your car. This procedure is called “curbside voting”. The voting clerk will bring corresponding ballot to your car outside the polling place. Curbside voting is available during early voting and on Election Day.

The second way is early voting by mail; people may request a ballot by mail, by calling the Cochise County Recorder’s Office in Bisbee at (520) 432-8354. People will need to provide them with full name, address, and date of birth. The last day to request that a ballot be mailed home is Friday, May 4. Marked ballot must be received by 7:00 p.m. on Election Day in order for the vote to be valid and counted.
