The Douglas Lady Bulldog track team took third in a triangular meet in Nogales last week.

The Lady Bulldogs began the meet with their 4x800 team of Karla Loreto, Angelica Trejo, Marilyn Grijalva, Laura Blair recording a personal best time of 11:41.
Kayla Fields, running the 100-hurdles for the first time, won the race finishing with a time of 19.53 seconds. Fields also won the 300-hurdles with a time of 52.28 seconds.
Barbara Jordan won both the 100 and 200-meters turning in a times 13.55 and 27.80.
Emily Castillo placed second in the discus with a personal best throw of 89’.
Zenaida Parra finished second in the long jump with a jump of 13’7.
Danitza Ozuna was third in the shot put with a throw of 24’2”.
The Lady Bulldogs 4x400 relay team of Marilyn Grijalva, Fields, Jordan and Kianna Ross finished second with a personal best time of 4:27.
“We are in the middle of the season and athletes are continuing to improve on times and marks,” Coach Donna Savill said. “We are adjusting to the heat and so far keeping our athletes healthy.”
On March 23 the Lady Bulldog ran in the Chandler Invitational. Douglas took 12 girls to the meet and brought home nine medals.
Castillo took fourth in the long jump with a personal best mark of 15'9” and first in the triple jump with a 33'3” medaling in both events.
Jordan finished second in her heat with a time of 28.09. She also medaled.
Melissa Rodriquez was second in the 100-meters and first in the 300 hurdles in her heat with personal best times of 13.73 and 51.32.
Marilyn Grijalva medaled in the 400 meters where she placed third with a personal best time of 1:07.
Fields won her heat in the 300 hurdles with a 50.42.
Laura Blair was third in the 800-meters finishing with a time of 2:44 in her heat.
Karla Loreto placed fifth in the 800-meters turning in a time of 2:46.
“All the girls did very well and improved their marks moving them up on the state qualifying list,” Coach Savill said.
The Lady Bulldogs are in Tucson today for a dual meet.
