The Douglas Bulldog tennis team reeled off four straight wins.

In the match with Amphi, Edwin Celado, playing No. 1 singles for the Bulldogs fell 3-6 4-6; John Owen was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at No. 2 singles.
Jesus Moreno, playing No. 3 singles, lost his first set 4-6, won the second 6-3 then lost the tiebreaker 7-10.
Lucas Grijalva lost his first set 6-7 at No. 4 singles, won the second 6-0 then won the tiebreaker 10-8.
Diego Luy was a 6-0 6-2 winner at No. 5 singles and Ben Rivera posted a 6-0 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.
In doubles play Celado and Owen fell 5-8. Moreno and Grijalva were 8-5 winners at No. 2 singles.
Luy and Rivera won by the same score of 8-5 at No. 3 singles.
Against Tombstone Celado, Owen, Moreno, Grijalva, Luy and Rivera all won their singles matches.
In doubles play Celado and Owen and Moreno and Grijalva were both winners. Luy and Rivera fell.
Coach David Campas was unable to provide scores for this match.
In the match with Valley Union Celado posted a 6-4, 6-4 win; Owen was a 6-0, 7-6 winner; Moreno won his match 6-0, 6-0, Grijalva was a 6-4, 7-6 winner and Rivera a 6-0, 6-0 winner.
In doubles play Celado and Owen won their match 8-4, Moreno and Grijalva were 8-0 winners and Luy and Rivera won by the same score of 8-0.
Against Sahuaro the match was all tied at 4-4 and came down to the No. 3 doubles match of Rivera and Saul Murrieta dug deep and pulled out a 8-5 win giving Douglas the match 5-4.
The other two doubles teams of Celado and Owen and Moreno Luy were beaten 6-8, 1-8.
In singles play Celado won his match in three sets 6-4, 4-6, tiebreaker 10-1.
Owen was a 6-2, 2-6, 10-4 tiebreaker winner.
Moreno also went tiebreaker in his match losing the first set 6-7 before taking the next two 6-4, 10-6.
Luy fell 3-6, 4-6; Rivera won 6-3, 6-3 and Murrieta was defeated 1-6, 4-6.
“The kids played real well in both matches,” Coach Campas said. “Against Sahuaro, they played really well. (They) need to learn to make adjustments during the matches. That was costly in doubles play. We are getting better which is very important at this time of the year.”
Overall, the coach added, the kids are improving with every match.
“Their attitude is awesome and it shows during their matches,” he said.
