Lady netters gearing up for post season

The Douglas Lady Bulldogs tennis team concluded its regular season last week posting wins over Bisbee and Valley Union finishing the year with an 11 game winning streak.


Next up for Douglas, 13-1 is the state tournament which begins this week.

Valeria Cordova, Erika Romero and Marissa Aguirre finished the season undefeated in single matches.

Against Bisbee the Lady Bulldogs were 8-1 winners.

Kim Cormier, playing No. 1 singles for Douglas, won her match 8-0;

Tanya Nunez was a 8-0 winner at No. 2 singles. Cordova won her match by the same score of 8-0 and Romero was a 8-1 winner at No. 5 singles. Aguirre posted a 8-0 win at No. 6 singles.

In doubles play Nunez and Morales were 8-6 winners; Emily Owen and Fernanda Quiroz fell 9-7 and Romero and Sienna Martinez won 8-0.

Against Valley Union Douglas was a 9-0 winner.

Cormier won her match 8-1; Nunez won 8-0; Morales also won 8-0;

Cordova posted an 8-2 win; Romero an 8-4 winner and Aguirre was an 8-1 winner.

In doubles play Nunez and Morales won 8-2; Owen and Fernanda Quiroz won 8-3 and Marissa Aguirre and Andrea Quiroz won their match 8-0.

In the lone JV match Sienna Martinez was an 8-1 winner.
