On April 10, around 6:30 p.m. the Douglas Police Department responded to the area of the 300 block of 5th Street in reference to a male who had been stabbed. Police officers found an 18 year old man with two stab wounds to his arm and chest area.
Officers questioned subjects in the area and were informed that a male subject in a white vehicle had confronted the 18 year old male subject and his friends. During the confrontation, the suspect pulled a knife and subsequently stabbed the 18 year old. An officer from the Department of Public Safety Gang Unit, who also responded to the report assisted in conducting interviews.
Sgt. Jose Duarte, public information officer for the Douglas Department said this is an on-going investigation and gang affiliations may be part of what instigated the confrontation amongst the subjects.
The victim was transported to the emergency room at Southeast Arizona Medical Center and later transported to Tucson area hospital for his wound to his chest and no further information on his condition was provided.
