The Douglas Lady Bulldogs softball team suffered two loses last week falling 8-6 to Empire on April 9 before getting shutout 12-0 by Sahuaro on April 12 in Tucson.

Against Empire the Lady Ravens, who beat Douglas 10-0 in Douglas March 29, led 8-1 going into the top of the sixth when the Lady Bulldogs, sparked by back to back home runs from Karina Avechuco and Mishell Quinonez, rallied for five runs pulling within two.

Sydnee Estrella was the losing pitcher.

Nythzia Machado hit 3 for 4 for Douglas this game while Victoria Mariscal was 2 for 2. Andrea Lugo, Alieen Alegria, Avechuco and Quinonez each were 1 for 4.

Stats from the game with Sahuaro were not reported to the Douglas Dispatch.

The Lady Bulldogs close out the home portion of their schedule this week with games against Cienega and Buena. Douglas will be at Benson April 24.
