Lady Bulldogs fall to Buena

The Douglas Lady Bulldogs track team fell to Buena 77-33 last week in a dual meet at Douglas High School.

Douglas’ 4x400 relay team of Melissa Rodriguez, Barbara Jordan, Kayla Fields and Marilyn Grijalva came in first finishing with a time of 4:36.

Fields won the 300-meter low hurdles with a time of 53.09 and Rodriguez came in second with a 54.04. Fields placed third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 19.48 seconds.

Jordan finished second in the 200 with a time of 28.15 and third in the 100-meters with a time of 13.86 seconds.

In the 400-meters Grijalva came in first with a time of 1:09 while in the 800 Karla Loreto was first with a 2:50 and Laura Blair second with a 2:53.

Zenaira Parra placed third in the long jump with a jump of 12-feet, 11-inches and she was third in the 200 with a time of 29.78.

Douglas’ coach Donna Savill said Buena provided some good competition for her team and did a good job of pushing the Douglas athletes.
