Bulldogs, Lady Bulldogs fall at state

Both the Douglas Bulldog baseball team and the Lady Bulldog tennis team had a rough day Thursday.


The Lady Bulldogs fell to Phoenix Country Day School 5-2 in the state semifinals ending their year 17-2. Phoenix will now play Miami for the state championship Saturday.


The Bulldogs were stymied by three errors in a 3-1 loss to the Liberty Lions.


Douglas will now face No. 1 seed Sunrise Mountain who was upset by No. 8 Sunnyslope 4-3 Thursday, Saturday at 7 p.m. game in an elimination game at Tempe Diablo Stadium.


Should the Bulldogs win Saturday they will play Tuesday against the loser of the Scottsdale Saguaro vs. Salpointe game.
