LaVena P. Keel, 101, passed away in Chandler, Tuesday, April 10.



LaVena was born in Pattison, TX and moved to Apache, Arizona in 1920 and then resided in Douglas, Ariz. for 85 years before moving to Chandler, AZ in 2005.

She was active in the Does and Amaranth organizations, and a strong supporter of D.A.R.C. LaVena enjoyed singing, gardening, knitting and garage sales.

She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Keel, daughter Georgia Shaw and sister Mamie Franklin. LaVena is survived by her daughter, Sally Stewart, Grandchildren Jody Stewart, Cory Stewart, Denise Shaw, Lisa Shaw Frank, Jason Shaw and Tracy Shaw, 9 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 10am on Saturday, April 28, at Chalice Christian Church 15303 South Gilbert Road in Gilbert, AZ. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of the Valley 1510 E. Flower St. Phoenix, AZ 85014
