DUSD Board approves budget revisions

The Douglas School Board of Education approved the final revisions to the 2011/2012 District Annual Expenditure budget at special meeting May 8.


DUSD Business Manager Cesar Soto reported that with all the state cutbacks there was a $12,000 decrease in the budget leaving the district with a total budget of $32,057,904.

The revisions, Soto said, came in the general budget, the unrestricted capital budget and the soft capital allocations.

The special meeting was needed in order for Soto to meet the May 15 deadline.

In other action at the special meeting the board appointed board president Mario Ramos and Dr. Ed Gomez as the alternate to attend the Arizona School Boards Association Delegate Assembly June 30 in Phoenix.

The board also approved the following hires: Kari Acosta; Content Area Literacy Coach; Jill Forsythe, Secondary Curriculum Coordinator; Teresa Gallardo, Secondary Curriculum Coordinator; Ana Luisa Martinez, Reading Coach; Roxana Martinez, Math Coach; Lynn Price, School Psychologist; Jesus Armenta, elementary teacher at Joe Carlson; Alex Tiratira, math teacher at DHS; Hilda Robles, 21st Century teacher at Faras; Rudy Quinonez, 21st Century Counselor at Faras and contract renewals for Karla Campillo Soto, Florame Tesky and Briana Owen-Nunez. Robert Monge was also hored as a grounds worker for the Maintenance Dept.

Resignations were also approved for Kari Toresdahl; Erica Del Rio, Eric Watkins and Dolores Newman.

The DHS Awards Night will take place at 7 p.m. tonight. The middle school completion ceremonies will take pace at 5 and 6:30 p.m. May 23 at their respective schools.The DHS graduation will take place May 25 at 7:30 p.m.
