Dear Editor,

In my opinion the Douglas Mercado is a great place to buy homemade jewelry, arts and craft items and fresh produce.
Some of the people who sell, homemade jewelry and crafts include Inez, Mary and Levonne, they sell beautiful earrings, bracelets, and rings. It was nice to see Levonne have a 2 for $20 Mother’s Day Special and Jake offering homemade candles and lamps. Barbara, sells live plants and various birds which she raises.
There were also several people selling fresh produce. Sister Mary offered tomato plants, snow peas, and parsley. Edwin, locally grown garlic, dill, and lettuce, all with no pesticides. Cathy with her beets, onions, cabbages, carrots, herbs and Vern had fresh eggs and even live earth worms for your garden soil.
Some stands didn’t sell produce, but prepared delicious food or drinks. A couple of examples are Keoki, who had fresh food shakes, Mexican style salads which are very healthy. Bob, had delicious pork BBQ sandwiches, potato chips, a soda pop and will soon be offering soft pretzels. Another stand, by Barbara G. sold delicious desserts, such as scones, pies, pistachios and peanut brittle.
The Douglas Mercado is a fun experience that should be shared by everyone in the Douglas community. I encourage you to come on Sundays to the 10th Street Park, from 10am-2pm, to experience some Douglas Mercado enjoyment! Thanks for Reading –
