The Greater Douglas Chamber of Commerce focused on getting ideas from members to invite more businesses to become a member at the monthly membership meeting held on Thursday, May 17 at the DUSD.

The board of directors explained that they have been preparing a plan to create even more benefits to participating businesses, which would include more business promotion through the different media resources available in the region, business referrals, participating in networking activities, such as mixers, breakfast/luncheon and promoting local tourism. Also, by becoming a member a business is entitled to be placed on the chamber’s website, as well as member-to-member services.

Board member Vicky Merritt said that another plan to implement will be the Member of the Week, in which every board member who signs on for it will be selected randomly every week to receive free advertisement on KDAP 96.5 FM Radio. Advertisement will include business’ name, location, hours of operation and services or goods offered.

Merritt concluded by saying that another service to be provided in the near future includes an advertisement’s page on the weekly edition of the Douglas Dispatch, which became a member in recent days.

Businesses interested in becoming a board member for the Chamber of Commerce can call (520) 364-2477 or visit the website www.douglasazchamber.org

The next membership meeting will be held on June 21st at the DUSD offices, located at 1132 12th St.
