Mrs. Richards thanked the City of Douglas and the Chamber for their help towards creating a good relationship between businesses and government, because, as she remarked it is through mutual cooperation that communities can grow better.
The re-opening ceremony began with the introduction of the U.S. Colors by the American Legion Post 11 accompanied by the Douglas High School Band, who performed the U.S. National Anthem.
Following that, the Richards showed their appreciation to the DUSD by presenting a $500 check to Sarah Marley and Stevenson elementary schools as well as the Douglas High School Band to complete the money they need to ensure their annual trip to Disneyland this month.
At the ceremony, McDonald’s staff raffled off a skateboard, a razor scooter and a couple of bicycles. Winners were Francisco LaMadrid, Aylin Amaya, Marco Anthony Marrufo and Maria Sanchez respectively.
To conclude the ceremony, all special guests and McDonald’s staff cut the ribbon to let people go inside the store to enjoy their favorite meal while Ronald McDonald signed up autographs for the kids.
