Lately the Douglas Dispatch has received a series of Letters to the Editor attacking various people in the community for their stances on various issues.

It’s alright to disagree with an individual or a public figure provided that disagreement is based on actions or ideas and not because of your dislike for that person.
The Letters to the Editors section is a forum for public comments on issues that affect our community.
The Douglas Dispatch welcomes Letters to the Editor. We ask all letters to be signed and must include a return address and phone number for verification.
The Dispatch reserves the right to edit the letters for length, clarity and libel. We also ask letters be kept to 250-300 words in length and only one letter per person per month.
We also ask that you keep it clean. Please avoid obscene, vulgar, lewd, racist or sexually-oriented language.
There are people in Douglas who have our communities’ best interests at heart. Because someone may not agree with a decision they’ve made doesn’t give them the right to attack them or their families.
Please do not use the Douglas Dispatch opinion page as a tool in your battle.
Attack the issue and provide what you feel may be a possible solution; don’t attack the person for doing what they feel at that time may have been the right thing.
