Guest speaker, incoming Mayor Danny Ortega Jr. encouraged graduates to keep learning something new every day because that will make them better persons.

“I am still learning new things every day from most places and people here in Douglas,” he said. “And as you leave, I hope you continue to give back to the community. As Mayor, I hope we can help as a group the community and help each other. Maybe someday you will run for a public office, so I would like to wish you all the best.”

Executive Director for Omega Jose A. Frisby said to be proud of the excellence showed by the students through their school years at the academy and advised them to always keep moving forward no matter what.

“Expect the best of yourselves and you will not be disappointed,” Frisby said. “So go out there and make the world a better place.”

Each graduating student had the opportunity to express their gratitude to family, teachers and friends with a slideshow presentation in which offer a brief message. Expressions like ‘You have always been there for me’, ‘You have raised me to be the person I am today’ and many more caused a deep emotion in the family members that witnessed the ceremony.

" TEN Graduates? Wow what is the ratio at Omega? Seems to me this a business for the Omega directors. They get paid much more than public school personnel and have no way the same challenges of 30 to a classroom. Something is VERY wrong with this picture! I smell fraud! "
