Abelardo L. Duron passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Abelardo was born in Cananea, Sonora on January 14, 1920 and was raised in Fronteras, Sonora. He was preceded in death by his wife Juanita and daughter and son in law Nellie and Ernesto Zarate. Abelardo leaves behind his children Ray (Su) Figueroa, Laura (Rocky) Yanez and Ana Luisa (Hector) Grajeda. His sisters Rosaura Duron, Carmela Pacheco and Ana Maria Borquez and brother Ramon Duron. Abelardo is also survived by his 11 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He had a passion to be in Agua Prieta, Sonora with all his friends and “comerciantes”. He loved to travel and to make friends. He was well known for selling chili colorado. Abelardo worked as a miner at Magma mine in San Manuel, Arizona and at the Del Monte Cannery at the Douglas airport. Abelardo was a great father, grandfather and friend. He will be dearly missed by all. We Love You Dad! A Rosary for Abelardo was recited on Monday, May 21, 2012 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church. A Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated following the Rosary also at St. Luke’s Church with Father Gilbert Malu officiating. Burial followed at Calvary Cemetery.
